Workshop Description
Get your hands muddy in this 2-hour hand-building ceramics workshop; a guided introduction to shaping clay without a wheel in a shared studio space where you can learn alongside other makers. Explore foundational hand-building techniques (pinching, coiling, and slab construction) as you create a piece entirely by hand. Your instructor will walk you through each method, helping you shape a functional or sculptural piece to take home. Once your work is complete, choose from over 15 glazes to give your piece its final finish. All pieces will be kiln-fired and available for pickup once ready. All materials provided, including clay, tools, and glazes. No experience necessary – beginners encouraged!

About your instructor
Ghinwa
Ghinwa Jawhari is a Lebanese American writer and ceramicist from Cleveland, based in Brooklyn. She is a recipient of fellowships from Kundiman and the Asian American Writers' Workshop. Her chapbook BINT (2021) was awarded the inaugural Own Voices Chapbook Prize from Radix Media. Ghinwa teaches ceramics workshops at Atelier Dalal focusing on hand-building methods, sculpture, and the chemistry of clay.
What can I expect from a workshop at Atelier Dalal?
Workshops are small and hands-on, emphasizing educational instruction on an extensive range of art forms. Our instructors provide 1on1 instruction and guidance during the workshop, and all introductory courses are beginner-friendly.
You will always leave one of our workshops with something you made, plus the knowledge to keep exploring at home.
Cancellation policy
Tickets for this event are non-refundable, so please double-check your calendar before booking! If you're unable to attend, you're welcome to pass your ticket along to a friend—just have them check in under your name!
