Finding the Idea is a 3-hour hands-on workshop led by acclaimed Palestinian-American filmmaker Suha Araj. This class will guide participants in developing their own short film concept. The session begins with a screening of Araj’s award-winning short film Rosa, a striking piece that packages major themes in a personal, emotional narrative. Next, a script walkthrough breaks down the story’s structure, character, and emotional beats, and gives participants concrete tools to shape their own narratives. The second half of the workshop focuses on guided exercises and prompts where participants will brainstorm, refine, and clarify their own ideas, leaving the workshop with a fully formed concept for a short film. No prior film or writing experience required!
