Oil Painting — Spring Semester + Exhibition (9 sessions)
Spring Semester
Prerequisite Required
Painting

Workshop Description
This 9-session Spring Semester course will allow you see and create like a painter. By the end of the semester, you'll have created 3-4 paintings and 7-10 studies. You will get to work on subjects and styles of your choice, culminating in an exhibition on May 16th for friends & family to see your work. Whether you want to focus on landscapes + architecture, portraits + figures, still lifes + florals, or anything else (or a combination of all!), our instructor will guide you step by step in how to approach and master your paintings through 30+ hours of hands-on studio time. At the beginning of the course, we will cover key drawing skills to build from references like portraits, figures, landscapes, and architecture. We will also practice principles for perspective, light, composition, value, and color to construct depth & dimension in your paintings through a combination of studio studies (oil paint) and take-home assignments (with pastel & charcoal) — all materials, including those for homework, are provided by Atelier Dalal. You'll learn how to critique your own work, solve issues when you get stuck, and train your eye to see the world in shapes, color, and emotion. Throughout the semester you'll gain confidence and momentum to propel your journey as an oil painter. — **Pre-requisite: Oil Painting for Beginners (3 session course). If you have not taken the Beginners 3-session course and want to take this Semester class, please email atelierdalal.bk@gmail.com to inquire: we can make exceptions for unique cases for students with oil painting experience.**
